This 2023 split CD, titled Acrid Abyss / Bloodthirsty Beauty, brings together two underground Japanese forces in the grindcore and death metal scenes.
Mortify (Japan): Often described as a “grindcore supergroup,” this trio features members from Coffins, Final Exit, and Disrotted. Their sound is a “fuzz grind” style that blends old-school grindcore with a heavy HM-2 Swedish death metal buzzsaw guitar tone.
Malformed Gentlemen (Japan): This Tokyo-based group delivers a more “traditional” or “old-school” grindcore and goregrind sound. Their side is noted for being “deranged and weird” with an “outworldly” goregrind atmosphere.
